TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A law firm representing some Transylvania County residents said it has reached an agreement with the developer of a Dollar General.

Mill Cove residents said the store's construction would affect a population of the endangered Appalachian elktoe mussel.

The South Carolina Environmental Law Project said the developer and residents reached a compromise in which the builders will plant native plants to the floodplain, install stormwater improvements and make changes to the store's design to help protect the species.
