A group opposing the location of a new landfill near Jefferson Elementary School is receiving legal support to fight a decision made at the state level.
Acting on behalf of the Friends of Horse Creek Valley, the S.C. Environmental Law Project filed a petitioner’s request for a contested case hearing with the S.C. Administrative Law Court on Aug. 16.
The defendant is the S.C. Department of Environmental Services, which is one of the two agencies that replaced the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control in July. The other is the S.C. Department of Public Health.
