Cynthia Powell is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and holds a Master's Degree from Winthrop College. A former teacher in the South Carolina Public Schools, Cynthia is a  longtime Myrtle Beach resident. She currently works with her family business, Senior Golfers of America, which for fifty years has managed and hosted golf events all over the world for seniors who love to travel and play golf.

Cynthia has served as State Chair of Conservation Voters of South Carolina, and currently is their Education Fund Board Chairman. A lifelong conservationist from the bottom of her heart, Cynthia's proudest achievement, other than having raised two great children, is that she once garnered over 2,000 signatures in a successful campaign to keep billboards from the new Highway 22 in Horry County. This initiative was successful, and you will not find a more pristine and beautiful highway in the Palmetto State.
