A lawsuit against an Upstate wedding venue has been dismissed but the environmentalists who sued said the decision, which is being appealed, could make it harder for people to sue over damage to fishing streams and protected lands.
The wedding venue, Arabella Farm in Pickens County, has been under a consent agreement with state regulators for more than a year after regulators found it had significantly disturbed the land around its pristine mountain location.
Arabella Farm has paid a $6,000 fine and will remain under the agreement until additional conditions are met including filing permits and plans that were due before last fall, according to a statement from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
