MURRELLS INLET — A local environmental nonprofit and Georgetown County have reached a settlement after the advocacy group accused the county of failing to comply with regulations for stormwater runoff, according to court records.

The deal, which is pending formal approval in federal court, comes two years after Preserve Murrells Inlet Inc., notified the county of its intent to file suit under the Clean Water Act, the landmark federal law meant to help regulate against water pollution. Specifically, the nonprofit accused the county of failing to monitor the water in the Murrells Inlet estuary.
