Davis Whitfield-Cargile is an attorney and the owner of Whitfield-Cargile Law, a private practice in Brevard, North Carolina. He was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina and attended Brevard College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in music. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, a top ten graduate, and recipient of the Clinical Education Award.
Davis began his legal career in Charleston, South Carolina as an attorney for the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC). He was staff attorney and acting chief counsel for Ocean and Coastal Resource Management. At DHEC, Davis primarily practiced environmental litigation. Davis took dozens of contested cases to trial and argued important and complex appeals before the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
At the end of 2011, Davis and his wife moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, where he entered private practice with McDougall Law Firm. There, Davis primarily represented individuals in personal injury cases and workers compensation claims. He also continued to maintain an environmental practice. In 2014, Davis and his wife made the decision to move to the mountains of Western North Carolina to settle down and raise their children.
Davis has served his community as a Rotarian, as a member of Brevard College’s Alumni Board (prior president and ex officio trustee), as a youth sports coach in the Transylvania Little League and Transylvania Youth Soccer Association, and as a musician in the Brevard Community Band. Davis enjoys raising chickens, gardening, home improvement projects, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors with his family.
